Penny + Grace – Affordable and Amazing

I don’t know how I found this subscription BUT I am so happy I did. I used this to replace Glamour Jewelry Box because I wasn’t too happy with the overall quality of the last box I got. This is actually more affordable than that box, coming in at $19.98 for three items. You can also choose which type of metal you want: gold, silver, and rose gold OR do a random selection (which is what I did).

It comes in this great outer bag which I love because it makes organization and storage so much easier! It doesn’t look like there is an info card so we are going to wing it.

For some reason, it looks like I got 4 items this month!! I love how the others come in their own individual bag – it makes it so much easier to store.

I hate that I didn’t even notice that tiny little speck of whatever on the bag. Typical

Item One: Passport Necklace

This is SUCH a cute little passport necklace. I love that this has such detail despite being small. The quality is definitely there and it is sooooo beautiful!

Item Two: Airplane Necklace with Mini Bling Details

Next, we have a second stunning necklace. I love that there seems to be a ‘travel’ theme. In this picture, you can also see the little tag at the clasping area of the necklace which has a P+G emblem. I love this little detail and it is on all of their pieces.

Item Three: Compass Bracelet

This also has amazing detail despite being small. It also features an adjustable chain to fit multiple wrist sizes!

Item Four: Bar Bracelet with Bling Detail

This is also similar to the previous bracelet! Just so stunning!

Let me show you the final lineup!

You can see the little emblem tags in this pic as well! Overall, I am STUNNED by the quality of each item and that you get this beautiful set for $20. I also love that there is a theme amongst all of the pieces. Like I said before, you can also choose the metal that you want AND it is so easy to change your choice. I am excited to see what comes next!!

Thanks for reading! Til next time!

GlobeIn Tasting Unboxing

Today, I have a super exciting unboxing that I haven’t seen many people do (which is surprising because it’s amazing). Make sure to check out my video if you want to see my awesome awkwardness in action.

Ok, so as the title implies, we are looking into the GlobeIn Tasting box which was one of the themes for March. If you are unfamiliar with the subscription, let me tell you a little bit about it! This subscription features handmade, ethically sourced goods from around the world by amazing artisans. Each Artisan Box is filled with at least $70 in value and includes 4-5 handmade items by artists from around the world. The cost is $48 a month but there is a more ‘add-on’ type subscription if you are interested. Also, I have a referral link which will get you $30 off the Artisan Box if you’re interested.

I forgot to take a picture of the outer box

So as you can see, the box is a decent size (and if you can’t see, check out the video). I am going to go ahead and show you the two *free* glasses I got for signing up! They literally always have promos going on where you get free items like this.

Aren’t these just stunning?! They are SUCH amazing quality and beautiful. I cannot wait to add these to the collection I just ordered from add-ons.

We have the info booklet which tells you about the products and the artisans who made them. I am going to include all the information because I absolutely love it!!!!

First Item: Tasting Journal

Jot down your thoughts and comments on the flavors, origins, and tasting notes of new bottles and brands.

This is such a great thing to include in a tasting box. There are so many intricate details that go into different beers, wines, and teas. I love picking up on these notes but I have the worst memory so keeping track of what I like and why I like it is always a struggle. This give me one organized place to keep track of my thoughts! My whole family loves craft beers so this will be a great way to share and discuss with them.

Second Item: Handwoven Bottle Coaster

Dress your favorite 40-ounce bottle of beer, wine, or champagne to add a bit of festive-flare to any table top set-up.

We are always reaching for coasters in our house but we definitely don’t have anything so beautifully made or so large. I mean this can fit a biggggg bottle…..which means more drinking for me! It is nice and thick which means nothing will seep into the surface below which is important in keeping your furniture safe! I just love the colors and that it is handwoven.

Third Item: Hand-carved Flight Stand

Place your teal-rim Tasting Glasses on this stand, cleverly shaped as a wine bottle, for organization.

I have been wanting to get a flight for my home for a while now. My favorite thing when going to a new brewery is to try a bunch of what they have because I am always so indecisive. Now, I can make tasting at home a more fun experience! This could organize any kind of tasting with the cute glasses that are in here too.

Fourth Item: Tasting Glass Set in Teal

Sample new brands of beers and wines, or try out cocktail recipes on your friends.

I AM SO EXCITED!!!! These glasses are SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I cannot emphasize this enough. They are indented on the sides which helps for handling, they are thicker glass -the weight makes it feel unique and valuable, and I love the teal rim. I can see myself putting little toppings in this and of course I can see all kinds of beers, wines, and teas in here too. This is such a great thing to add to my current glassware.

Fifth Item: Bottle Opener Necklace

Wear as a necklace and surprise your friends with its hidden bottle-opening functionality!

There is nothing that says you’re classy like a handmade necklace that functions as a bottle opener. Seriously, look at how stunning this is!!! I am always reaching for random things to open bottles but this is something you can wear as jewelry and then whip out to pop tops. I just love that! Plus, the design is stunning.

Final Thoughts

Here is the final lineup of everything that I received and I am over the moon! Everything fits into the theme so well and is something I can see myself using frequently. I love seeing the artisan’s stories in the booklet and I love that there is support for artisans all over the world. The value is definitely there and each item is visibly high-quality. The functionality of each item is diverse: the glasses can be used for sampling food, beverages; the necklace can just be jewelry or a bottle opener; the coaster can hold any type of bottle or glass. I am just so happy with this!!!! Let me just show you a few more pictures of the items closeup.

There is even this tasty recipe!!!!!!

Thank you guys so so much for reading. Til next time!!

Birchbox March 2019

I did it again – I bought a new subscription because I saw you could get two free gifts. I am a sucker for free things and I don’t know why….like I am still buying something. They always get me. I can pretty much be talked into buying anything. Like literally. It’s a mix between me being too awkward to say no and also I am down to try almost any product at least once.

I also got these two gifts for signing up!

The funny thing is they sent me double which I am really excited about because that pillow spray is the bomb. The little candle is crap though.

I just think this is so cute for an outer box.

And here we can see another box that I will add to my hoarder collection because I have a problem.

This is out little info sheet – I really love this quote. I need to tell myself something like this more often.

Ok, on to the products!

First Item: Manna Kadar Cosmetics Eyedylic Gel Liner – $19

Formulated for long-lasting, budge-proof wear, this jet black eyeliner glides on effortlessly. Dot the color along your lash line, then fill in to create your desired look.

I love this type of pencil eyeliner. I don’t usually buy black so this is nice to have. I have to admit that I suck with liquid eyeliner so I usually take a pencil like this and make everything look like I’m a pro. This specific pencil is so smooth and pigmented. I am really excited to try to add a little more black eyeliner looks to my routine.

Second Item: Purlisse Watermelon Energizing Aqua Balm – $45 for full size

Watermelon hydrates, aloe vera reduces inflammation, and cucumber soothes in this gel moisturizer that instantly energizes skin. Apply a thin, even layer to your face before SPF.

I am so sad this is small because I LOVE IT! Normally, I hate products that have a scent on my face because I am really sensitive. However, this one is so refreshing and delightful that I don’t even mind it. It makes me get all kinds of summer vibes and let’s be real, everyone wants that. The balm itself is really light and it doesn’t take much to drench your face in hydration. I definitely think this is a homerun.

Third Item: Marula Light Hair Oil Treatment – $26 for full size

This sulfate- and paraben-free oil conditions, tames frizz, and adds shine without weighing hair down. Run a dime-sized amount through damp or dry strands.

I have been trying this out for like a week now and I don’t know that I’ve seen any difference. I can tell you this: it is super lightweight and doesn’t weigh down my thin ass hair so that’s a plus. As far as benefits go, I really can’t see any. Also, there is no scent which is unfortunate for me with hair products because I want my hair to smell like a perfumed luscious garden.

Fourth Item: Natura Castanha Hand Cream – $19.50 for full size

This rich, delicately scented hand balm softens and smooths skin while strengthening its natural moisture barrier. It leaves your hands feeling nourished, not greasy.

This is a really great hand cream that is nice and thick but not overbearing. It makes my skin feel nice and hydrated – I have been putting it on before bed and my hands have been feeling soft and refreshed every morning. It doesn’t have much scent which is pleasant. The price point for a full-size seems affordable too!

Fifth Item: Model Co Metallic Eyeshadow Trio in Positano – $18 for full size

Three complimentary shimmery shades of light peach, violet, and chocolate make uptimes this vibrant metallic palette that’ll give you a sultry eye look.

I am pretty sure I got this exact eyeshadow trio in my Feb Allure Beauty Box and I thought it was really lovely. There is something weird though….let me show you!

Similar, right?!?!?! Maybe I am blind.

They have different names but I SWEAR they are the exact same. Regardless, they are beautiful!

Sixth Item: Luxie Brush

I am obsessed with Luxie brushes and this will be a great addition to my collection.

So here is the final lineup!

And here are some swatches!

Overall, I am really excited about this box and I can see myself using every product! I think the price ($10/month) is great BUT I did see that they are increasing to $13/month which I am not thrilled about. I feel like I can get these same type of products in Ipsy which is still $10/month and more personalized. What do you guys think?

As always, thanks for reading! Til next time!

I Have the Worst Luck – Glossybox March 2019

There is something about living in Alaska that makes you get everything super late. Take for instance my March 2019….I may have signed up for this super late but it just came today (April 10). I hope you guys haven’t seen too many of these, but if you have, you still might enjoy me being awkward – that’s a treat in itself if you ask me!

Let me go ahead and get into this!

First off, this box is everything. It is so nice and sturdy and I feel like I cannot throw this away. I am going to use this for anything and everything I can cram into it.

The inside is very pretty as well!

There is this random wine card in the box that I won’t be using so whoever wants to use it – go for it!

First Item: Nuria Rescue Rebalancing Cleanser – $26

Designed to relieve and rebalance acne-prone skin, this multi-tasking cleanser uses the gentle astringency of Mandarin Orange extract. Rice water, which is rich in vitamin B and C, is used to promote daily skin firmness. Its the perfect every day, acne or no acne saver that properly maintains and cleanses the skin.

This is a nice, big facial cleaner. There is nothing more exciting than full size products! The wash itself is nice enough – it has a nice bubbly effect on my skin and got rid of the excess oil and makeup. I didn’t notice much of a scent which is great since I cannot stand most scented facial products. I noticed a little bit of drying after using this but I loaded up my face with serum and moisturizer.

Second Item: Manna Kadar Beauty Bloom Volumizing Mascara – $29

A cutting-edge wand captures mascara between each individual groove of the ultra-dense fiber bristles of the Manna Kadar Bloom mascara to give you the fullest, sexiest lashes imaginable.

Holy cow, this packaging is GORGEOUS! I can’t say that I have seen anything shaped like this. The wand is also a strange shape (check out my video to see) so I am not sure how I feel about that.

I was going to add a picture in here but holy hell, my eyebrows are out of control and the dark circles under my eyes are in full force. ANYWAYS, this definitely added some length to my lashes. This didn’t really give me any real volume which is disappointing because I can spend a lot less at Target and get a lot more. The wand is weird as well – let me show you the picture from their site!

Isn’t that strange looking?! It is like a balding little mascara wand BUT it definitely gets to my lashes really well.

Third Item: DWTN PARIS Eau De Teint Highlighter – $25

This lightly powdered cream highlighter offers a texture for easy application and lustrous finish. Extracted benefits from botanicals like the white horehound plats help protect against pollution and the harmful effects of light from scenes. A highlight should always be healthy.

Here is a swatch:

It has a nice bronze shimmer. I just don’t know how I feel about liquid highlight. It definitely brings out my little hand hairs…..which makes me feel like it might bring out the peach fuzz on my face. Don’t worry, I didn’t notice that happening! But, this is not a blinding highlighter by any means. It almost blends into my skin and just barely sparkles. I prefer something much more bold.

Fourth Item: Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Strength + Moisture Leave-In Mask (Sample Size) – $14 (according to the brochure)

Female founded brand Briogeo, brought to you by Nancy Twine, introduces an ingredient conscious brand for all your hair needs. Included in its haircare line is their leave-in hair repair mask that strengthens and conditions. Safe to use for all types o treated hair, it uses a unique micro-encapsulated formula of organ oil which helps restore the hair cuticle. The end result is consistent and manageable hair made with ingredients that are vegan, clean, and cruelty-free.

I. LOVE. THIS. PRODUCT. Like seriously. The smell, the way it makes my hair feel, hell even the packaging. I want to use this in my hair every single day for the rest of forever. It has almost an herbal smell which I am obsessed with. I feel like I want to tell people to smell my hair because I want everyone to experience it. Also, it makes my hair even more silky than I ever imagined it could be. Doesn’t that sound lovely??

Fifth Item: Yensa Tone Up Primer Essential Glow (Sample size) – $15 (according to the brochure) while the full size of 30ml is $35

By infusing super powered-ingredients, this lightweight primer helps smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It has a satin sheen finish that gives the skin a radiant look and feel. While minimizing the appearance of pores, it also evens skin texture for a flawless appearance.

This is more creamy than most of my other primers – like a lotion. It makes my skin feel smooth and I feel like I noticed some color correction in areas where my face was a little red. I didn’t notice any real change in my pores (I’m starting to give up hope) but it makes a nice enough canvas for adding on my makeup.

Final Thoughts

Here is the final lineup. It looks like there was 3 full sized products and 2 travel sized products. The total value of the box is $109.

If you compare this to BoxyCharm which is the same price and promises over $100 in value as well, then it’s a little frustrating to get some sample products. If you want a mix of skincare, haircare, makeup then this would offset that because BoxyCharm is mostly makeup. I guess it’s a little like comparing apples to oranges, but if we are strictly speaking the size of items for the price, then there should be all full size products.

That being said, I still really love this box. I signed up for a 3 month subscription so I am excited to see what the next months hold. I personally don’t 100% mind that there is a mix of full size and larger samples in this box BUT it might annoy me depending on the quality of the upcoming boxes.

As always, thanks for reading. Til next time!

TheraBox Review and an Embarrassing Moment

I ordered a new box for my blog (shocker) – TheraBox. This is a monthly subscription box that costs $34.99 and promises over $100 in value. I haven’t seen many people unbox this so I am not sure what to expect, but on the website it packs ‘wellness goodies’ to make you feel better about yourself and life in general.

Lord knows I could use that! Let’s open her up.

I love the colors of this box right off the bat! Very floral and spring-ish.

It comes with this lovely little info booklet about the products and other information that is actually really interesting! It also looks like the theme for this box is bloom – how fitting for the beginning of Spring. The first page shows an editor’s note, information on how to get a bonus gift in your next box (leaving review on Facebook, emailing company with your information), how to win a free box, and the rewards you get for referring people.

First Item: Healthy Journey’s Therabox Meditation Bundle (3 Sets) – $34.98

This is listed as “this month’s happiness boosting activity” which is a great self care item to include. It has 3 different sets within the bundle:

For this month’s theme, Bloom, we partnered with Health Journeys and assembled a Therabox Bundle with 3 sets of our favorite meditations and self-hypnosis audios, all with a focus on growth and change to help you bloom into your highest self.

I think this is so amazing that this is included and I can really see myself using this. As someone who suffers from severe anxiety, I struggle very much with how to calm myself. I have been using the Calm App (which you should check out) because there was a 2 month free trial in the Be Kind Box by Ellen which has been invaluable in my self-care journey thus far. This will be a great addition to helping me get through my day-to-day!

I only took a picture of this to show you how adorable it is that they are trying to spread the happiness with every little thing in this box!

Second Item: Avry Beauty Gel-Ohhh Lavender Jelly Spa – $5.95

Caring for our feet has never been this east and satisfying! Experience aromatherapy, heat therapy and ultimate moisturization in the most fun way possible and soak up the Lavender Gel-Ohhh from Avry Beauty! This cruelty-free and paragon-free product is the ultimate indulgence for complete relaxation when it’s time to wind down and turns your water into jelly form!

I am really excited to see a foot product. I really feel like feet are neglected in subscription boxes which is a shame because they go through so much! I guess I really never noticed how awful your feet can become until I moved to the desert and then got pregnant. Like I literally suffered from painful, dry, cracked, swollen feet for 9 months and it was miserable. After I moved to Alaska, I did a foot mask (which is disgustingly satisfying) and have vowed to take care of my feet ever since. This will definitely help me achieve that! I think I might look into buying an actual foot bath though.

Third Item: NCLA Beauty Take it Off Nail Lacquer Remover Sheets – $19

You’ll dare to go bare with this soy-based remover sheet that strengthens as it strips! NCLA’s Take It Off Nail Lacquer Remover Sheets comes with 10 soy-based nail lacquer remover sheets, enough to remove 10 manicures.

I am actually one of the only females I know who don’t paint or otherwise maintain their nails. I think it might be due to the fact I worked in the food industry for a while and wasn’t allowed to have painted nails. Prior to that, I was at the nail salon religiously. This actually makes me want to try to be a little more active in stepping up my nail game and I love that this is nail polish remover in a sheet and not just the typical bottle…..because I am SO bad about leaving the lid off and then spilling nail polish remover everywhere. Maybe this will help me not be a slob.

Fourth Item: The Happy Shoppe Kawii Foldable Note Pad – $5

Release your inner child with these adorable schedule notepads! Featuring spring colors and our favorite furry friends, this desktop swag will delight everyone it comes across.

This is listed as a scheduling notepad which aims to replace typical notepads with a more fun version. I can’t say this is really my style so I am not sure how to review it….I like cats and I like writing things down but this is just not me at all. I appreciate getting something I can throw into my purse or diaper bag but I wouldn’t choose this for myself.

Fifth Item: Taupe Coat Wasabi Nail Polish – $10.99

What’s a spa day without some new decor for your nails? Taupe Coat is a boutique nail polish brand that creates clean, non-toxic nail polish for bold women. Vegan and 10-chemical free, it does not contain the most common carcinogens traditionally found in nail polish, like formaldehyde or parabens.

I think this is really cute to include in the box. I love the color even if it isn’t something I would typically reach for. Like I said earlier in the post, I don’t really paint my nails…but now I might!

Sixth Item: The Farmer’s Touch All Natural Foot Cream – $20

Inspired by a Farmer’s quest to pamper and soother her tired and dry feet after a long farm day’s work, The Farmer’s Touch All Natural Foot Cream was born. Each bath is organic, and made fresh, by hand…even the cocoa butter!

Again, I think foot products are a great addition to the box. I haven’t used this yet because I haven’t had time and I want to use the foot bath product and then use this in order to really get the full spa experience. I am really excited to use it though!

Seventh Item: Organicare Bath and Body Unicorn Body Butter – $11.99

Featuring raw and organic ingredients, this multi-colored, whipped body butter (also smells so delicious, yum!) restores dullness to reveal skin that quite literally gleams and sparkles.

Meh. I have such mixed feelings about this product. I love the way it looks – it instantly brightened my mood! I mean look at it! It looks like the most delicious whipped icing in the world. I also love the scent is so sugary and reminds me of cake. Now, the thing I don’t like is the formula of the ‘butter’ itself. When I imagine a ‘body butter’, I imagine thick and creamy lotion. This is not that.

If you are familiar with using coconut oil type products (maybe all oil based products?) then you’ll understand when I say that this melts in your hand before you apply. This melted beautifully BUT when I went to apply it to my skin, it didn’t really have the movement that I was expecting. It kind of just stayed where it was at so I felt like I ended up using a lot. I really didn’t like that at all – I need something that feels like I’m really slathering it on myself. Throughout the day, however, it did retain moisture which is great. I’m not a fan of this personally but if you like these type products, I would definitely recommend either trying this box or checking out the Etsy shop!

Eight Item: Herbal Transdermal Cell Re-Mineralizing Mud Mask – $20

All natural made with elements of the earth, this gold-infused Cell Re-Mineralizing Mud Mask is a treat for any skin in the need of some TLC!

I got really excited when I saw the word gold-infused. Like all you need to do is throw some gold in a product and I’m down to try it. This is a decent size pot for a clay mask and I think I can get quite a few uses out of it. It does have the citrus flavonoids which they warn may make your skin red for some time after using the mask and mine was certainly red. It didn’t last very long (thankfully) but I don’t really know how I feel about this product. Usually I’m pretty polarized one way or another if I like something or not, especially when it comes to skincare, but this one was a middle ground. I think I would use it if I’ve run out of everything or I’m feeling bored with other products, but I don’t think I would purchase this again.

Ninth Item: Veise Beauty Dream Serum – $38

Free from all questionable shenanigans, this serum illuminates the skin whilst protecting against free radicals in the environment. Originally developed to improve the appearance of hyper pigmentation and scarring, Dream Serum ended up being a magic elixir that gives you the Glow of a Goddess!

I am actually working through a facial serum right now so I am not going to say one way or another if I like this or not….it has crossed my mind to use this on my postpartum stretch marks because they are a nightmare and I hate them. So. I might let y’all know how that goes.

Alright, so there is the TheraBox. I feel like I have mixed feelings about this box. I don’t think it’s for me but I don’t think it is a bad box if you’re into these type of products.

Overall, the value added up to $165.91 which is amazing if you’d purchase these products in your everyday life. They give you facial skin care, body skincare, organization, foot care, and nail care. That is everything you could hope for in a self-care box. The thing for me is that these just aren’t things I would pick out for myself or find myself being particularly drawn to. I guess I am a little too neutral or old-at-heart for this box. I am happy I got to experience though! Now I won’t have FOMO when I see the ads.

In other news, I had an awkward moment today…….let me show you why.

I literally about died. Like the first thing that popped into my mind was:

“OH SHIT, DID I CLICK THE MAN BUTTON FOR MY THREE MONTH SUBSCRIPTION”

The answer is: no. I guess they just ran out of boxes and thought it would be funny to make me hate myself.

These are just the bonus items I got for signing up! I will dive into these with the actual Birchbox Unboxing! Here’s a pic though!

As always, thanks for reading! Til next time!
