Be Kind by Ellen- The Newest Box on the Block

I have a new box that I bought completely blindly – no spoilers and literally no idea what could possibly be inside. If you’re a fan of Ellen DeGeneres, then you might have heard of her special edition box and that she is starting a new seasonal subscription. So. Naturally, I had to have it.

This box is a little pricey ($54.95) and promises to have unique items picked by Ellen that she wants to share. Generally, I felt like it might include items and brands I probably wouldn’t normally seek out for myself so I thought hell, let’s do the damn thing.

Let’s dive in!

Right off the bat, I really love the way the box looks. It’s bold and recyclable. That’s my type of box! Plus, the size makes me think there’s lots of goodies. My materialstic, hoarder self is jumping with joy.

You guys. I can’t. It’s SO beautifully packaged. I want to LIVE IN THIS BOX. I love how it look like each little piece of what was sent sits in it’s own little cardboard home. Maybe not super environmentally friendly since who knows how many people will recycle BUT I love it.

The info booklet is everything. It’s so nice to the touch and printed on super nice material. Everything is simple and beautifully detailed. I feel like I want to keep this booklet for no reason other than I like how it looks.

First item!

First Item: Calm 2-Month trial – $26

Calm is the #1 App for sleep, relaxation and meditation. From Sleep Stories, Meditations, Music, Masterclasses, Nature Scenes (and more), help reduce stress, lessen anxiety, improve focus and get better sleep. Join the 40 million people enjoying Calm’s audio content from world-renowned experts, celebrities and authors.

This is something I’ve wanted to try out for a long time. Since pregnancy, my mind is a literal never ending thought storm. I don’t know if it’s postpartum anxiety or what but I hardly sleep. I’m always thinking about random stuff like if bull sharks can make it to the lakes I swim in back home (Tennessee). Yes. I don’t even live there anymore.

I also wanted to try this out because Matthew McConaughey reads you a bed time story. When I first found out I was having a boy, I seriously considered naming him McConaughey (Mick for short) but was vetoed. Whatever. I’m just saying I love that man.

I’m really excited to try this out! There is a section for a free trial through the app which I didn’t purchase but whatever, I’ll count this towards the box value.

Note: if you go to the website listed (calm.com/Ellen) it let me do the trial without any info besides making an account. No credit card required!

Second Item: Byta 16 Ounce Stainless Steel Tumbler – $29

Byta creates beautiful, double wall, vacuum sealed, boa-free stainless steel cups made to take with you wherever you go. It’s lightweight and fits in any hand while giving back. Byta has partenered with Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, whose volunteers have removed some 1 million single-use plastic bottles from beaches and waterways worldwide. Text CLEAN 91990 and be part of the solution.

Ok, the first pic I wanted to show how this was in its own little cardboard house. It just makes me happy to see something packed so nicely because let’s face it, coming to Alaska is a long journey. I drove from New Mexico with a newborn and wanted him to be packed this nicely. It’s a long damn journey.

I love getting cups like this in boxes. For some reason, I can never bring myself to buy my own at a store and this makes me feel better. I love that it’s stainless steel because I’m terrified of hard plastics (BPAs and BPSs) so it’s nice to have these on hand. I’m always drinking water and I don’t like to use plastic bottles.

Third Item: Westrock Coffee Meza Morning Blend and Rwanda Select Reserve Coffee – $3

Westrock Coffee seeks to honor farmers and produce traceable, high-quality coffee through direct trade. What began with a few farmers in Rwanda now spans across the globe, enabling you to positively impact families near and far through your cup of coffee. Westrock Coffee builds ethical and sustainable coffee supply chains from the farmer to the end consumer in 21 coffee growing regions. Westrock has physical offices in eight different countries allowing for employment of hundreds of full-time employees that work to ensure quality and ethical practices.

I can’t say that I drink a lot of coffee so this might be wasted on me right now. I have dabbled in coffee in the past but I can’t say I am any good at making my own. As my little man grows and becomes more interactive, I have thought that I might have to start off my day with a cup (or two) of joe but I might start sooner now that I have some different kinds to try.

Fourth Item: Rover BE KIND by ellen Edition – $32

Rover illustrates that beautiful, healthy and smart purebreds and mixed breeds are available for adoption everywhere, as most of the dogs in the book once lived in a rescue or shelter. Rover has generated donations of over $2.5 million to deserving rescues with comprehensive spay and neuter programs across the country thanks in large part to Ellen’s early support. Learn how to see your dog in a future edition at RoverWorks.org.

I love this book. The pictures are amazing quality and I LOVE DOGS…..ok, I love all animals but I really like that this features animals who were in shelters before. I personally own two shelter pups and my whole family has purchased animals from shelters.

I have to admit though that I have no idea what people do with this book. I guess it is like a coffee table conversation piece….but my coffee table is an ottoman that doubles as my kitchen table. so. there’s that. I guess I am going to use this as a book for my little man.

Fifth Item: BE KIND Montecito Candle – $28

This candle was designed by Ellen herself with a scent personally curated. It’s made in California with a modern black ceramic design and named for the town that’s so close to her heart, Montecito.

This candle smells like a clean man. I actually don’t mind if everything I own smells like a fresh, clean man so I dig it. I usually lean towards more floral or earthy scents BUT I can get into a more masculine scent. Variety is the spice of life. So are clean men.

This candle has already made my living room smell so good and I have’t even lit it. I have so many candles and I am always excited to add more because I usually light them pretty frequently.

Sixth Item: Alex and Ani Ellenfund Bracelet – $38

Alex and Ani create meaningful, eco-conscious jewelry and accessories to positively empower and connect humanity. This year, they partnered with The Ellen Fund to help build a future for gorillas. For each bracelet purchased, Alex and Ani will donate 20% of your purchase to The Ellen Fund. You can purchase these bracelets at alexandani.com

I don’t typically wear much jewelry but I really like the look of this and the thought behind it. I can’t say that I know much about this brand but I checked out the website and it looks like they have quite a few charities they support. The quality looks really nice and I love gorillas so it’s a cool concept.

Seventh Item: Theory11 Custom ELLEN Playing Cards – $9.95

Ellen has a love of playing cards, especially poker. With quality playing cards as top priority, Ellen has custom-made a special set just for you subscribers! Theory11 is the largest producer of luxury designer playing cards. You can purchase Theory11 cards at theory11.com

My husband I are very much card and board game players. Maybe it’s because we don’t have cable, but we have game nights pretty frequently. We are also very much into poker. I love that these are so different from the other decks I own and holy crap, if you check out the others on the website, they are AMAZING. The quality is also really nice so it feels like these cards will last a good while.

Eighth Item: Cheerios Mini Honey Nut Cheerios Box – $n/a

Psst! Be sure to open your mini box, as one lucky BE KIND subscriber will get something extra special!

Cheerios and The Ellen DeGeneres Show are on a mission to achieve One Million Acts of Good – Again! You can be part of our mission to achieve One Million Acts of Good by sharing your acts of good with use at ellentube.com/cheerios or using #onemillionactsofgood.

This is a cute addition to the box BUT I didn’t win anything. I looked up that there was a chance to win $5k….. I guess I still get to enjoy some heart healthy Cheerios though……but I am a little salty to not see a golden ticket in there.

So there it is! Here is the whole lineup. I really like each individual item but it doesn’t feel like a cohesive curated box. I would much prefer items that fit into a defined theme than just a bunch of random stuff. After adding everything up, the total is just over $165. That’s a pretty good value!

The thing I am most disappointed about is that I didn’t win 5k. Like. Come on. All those people in the audience get shit. Throw me a bone damnit. I do appreciate that everything has a good vibe, conscious effort to be better for the world. I like that although I wouldn’t really buy this stuff for myself, that maybe it’s like I made a round about way to donate to bettering the world.

I will probably still stay subscribed to see what the next box is like because this isn’t something I was really disappointed by. Who knows. We will see what happens! I should have some more BIG boxes coming up and I’m so excited.

Til next time!

Oh I love Ellen! I had no idea she had her own box. All of the items you got are so great. I would enjoy each & every one. Thanks for sharing the link to the Calm app. ❤ I love that you wanted to name your son McConaughey & Mick for short, that would’ve been adorable!! The cardboard houses for each item is really nice & I bet your son will love the dog book. You are amazing for having two shelter dogs of your own. ❤ The Alex and Ani bracelet is probably my favorite item in the whole box!! I cannot wait to see what you get in the next box!!
